OUR AFRICAN ROOTS...

The final vows of the two sisters we dearly love! Who live at the Place 2B
Praise the Living Jesus! We are currently working to connect our site to two missions we would like to support in Ghana, West Africa...
THE HANDMAIDS OF THE DIVINE REDEEMER SAVED 2 SERVE!
After visiting Ghana, West Africa this past summer on our extreme expedition, we discovered the potential of continuing to fostering a relationship between the Order of the Handmaid's of the Divine Redeemer and Fr. Carr's Place 2B! Seeing that there are three sisters from the HDR's serving at the Place 2B, we would like to support their mission which states:
In imitation of the obedience of our Divine Redeemer and our Lady, we the HDR's are called together to lead a dedicated life in prayer, simplicity, humility, and love and to serve joyfully our neighbors by spreading the gospel in our apostolates, particularly the integral development of women.

How did the mission trip come about? About two and a half years ago, Father Marti Carr from Fr. Carr’s Place 2B in Oshkosh, WI received a phone call from an old friend, Mr. Coleman. His proposition to Father Carr was to inquire as to whether or not two sisters, Mary Assumpta and Celestine (from the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer) could live and serve at Fr. Carr’s Place 2B while obtaining their education at UW Oshkosh in accounting and education. |
Our Lady of Fatima School that we are helping to support through The Place 2B
Mr. Coleman had recently been in Africa and met Fr. Bobby, a diocesan priest for the Diocese of Accra, whose ministry was to Aids patients and lepers. Mr. Coleman was asked by Fr. Bobby’s if it would be possible to send these two sisters to the States. Mr. Coleman contacted Fr. Carr and not long afterward, The Place 2B had two sisters from Ghana Africa in residence! They have studied diligently and at the same time served the poor at Holy Family Villa, a domestic home for women.
Since that time, these sisters have brought a great deal of joy and life to the Place 2B’s community. It has been in these past couple years that they have impacted our lives. Father Carr, in his outlandish trust in the workings of the Holy Spirit has witnessed two of the sisters’ temporary vows. Meanwhile, Father Carr’s Place 2B felt called to donate $100,000 to the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer in the spring of 2006. Father Carr unveiled this upcoming mission trip (which included Father Quinn Mann, Father Walter Stumpf, and disciple of Christ, Drew Mulloy). The gift was given to Sister Bridget Agbenyo in complete faith without even the financial support to back it up! The gift, however, was backed up by Father Carr’s tremendous faith in Divine Providence! Since that time, the funds have been secured through a grassroots effort that can only be explained by faith! Sister Bridget gratefully accepted the gift and it is being used to build a school for hundreds of young children in Ghana, Africa!
Hence, our mission trip this past August accomplished some things...
First and foremost, we established further ties with The Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer religious order so as to cooperate with the Spirit in further discernment of service to the poor both globally and locally. Second, we witnessed the celebration of the sister’s final vows with their religious community. Third, we dedicated their new school as representatives of Father Carr’s Place 2B and the Diocese of Green Bay. Lastly, we worked in surrounding Catholic Church missions in the Accra area to minister to the disadvantaged and immerse ourselves in the African Church. A THANK YOU TO ALL WHO MADE THIS EXTREME EXPEDITION POSSIBLE!
MATTHEW 25 HOUSE
Another apostolate we hope to remain connected to is the mission of Fr. Bobby Benson and at the Matthew 25 House. The mission:
Fulfilling Matthew 25:31-40 of the New Testament... "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, in prison and you came to visit me...what you did for one of my least ones, you did it for me.
The vision:
To become a formidable partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS by establishing the first HIV/AIDS care, training and hospice facility in Ghana
Matthew 25 is like the Place 2B in Oshkosh and we want to help them out!
Daughters of our Lady of the Pieta--Mission in Peru
Our community, founded in Italy, has had a mission in Peru since 1977 in the providence of Lima, Huaraz and Cajamarca. Our Mother Foundress, Maria Teresa Camera, loved the Cross and the Crucified Chrsit since her early childhood, which sparked in her the thirst to surrender and sacrifice her life for the poorest of the poor. Maria Teresa Camera, inspired by the Holy Spirit, found our place in the Church at the foot of the Cross where Mary gathers with love, her beloved son, Jesus. We Daughters of our Lady of the Pieta promise and commit ourselves to follow her gesture towards every needy person with respect, gratuity, silence and joy. For this reason, invited to proclaim the Love with which God so loved the world, we assume in the Church the specific mission responsibility which Maria Teresa Camera entrusted to us; the evangelization, in the love and service of the abandoned children, the poor, the sick and the elderly. |
